Programs - Royston based
Programs based at Royston House is ideal for small
groups; it is a preferred location for our Youth at Risk clientele
featuring:
remote location, isolation and minimal impact.
Groups participating in Royston programs need to
self cater.
These programs may be negotiated during any term,
although we do not offer Royston as a base during periods of extreme
fire danger, nor during exceptional winter conditions.
When Rubicon has a full compliment of students, some flexibility
is required as to what activities we may be able to offer.
The
kitchen has a small stove, pots and pans plus basic utensils,
cutlery and crockery. Bunk beds with mattresses are provided;
BYO pillow and sleeping bag, warm clothes and indoor shoes eg
slippers.
Gas wall heaters keep the rooms warm, whilst gas hot water is on tap in the kitchen
and bathroom / shower.
BYO Esky for food storage in warmer months.
Power is generator only.

A fire pit is located within the grounds.
IF an activity program has been negotiated with Rubicon, coats,
overpants, back pack and all speciality outdoor equipment will
be provided.
The road to Royston is subject to snow; wheel chains may be
required during autumn and spring, definitely during winter.
Log
trucks work the area; great care needs to be taken on this single
lane road. A portable radio to communicate with log trucks, may
be available upon request.
Telephone reception is non existant. A satellite phone is advisable and may
be available from the Rubicon centre upon request.
Please contact the Assistant Principal, to develop a program that suits your needs.
